CMS seeks input on modular solutions for Medicaid Management Information Systems

June 16, 2016

CMS is seeking public comment on modular solutions for its Medicaid IT systems to better make decisions about the direction and future of its enterprise architecture. In its Request for Information, the agency wants:

  • To know how available modular solutions are for its Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS), especially in regards to modules for clinical data warehouse and identity management; and
  • Information on the possibility of pre-certification for those modules so it can streamline the creation and certification of the systems, as well as be able to create informed guidance to issue to the states and to vendors.

CMS is interested in how modules can improve care management and heath information exchange for state Medicaid agencies and for other agencies providing person-centered services and benefits.
