UMass Medical School reports on Community Health Worker Certification requirements by state for the Connecticut Health Foundation

Certification without over-professionalization increases the likelihood that community health workers (CHWs) will get hired and that their services will get paid. A starting point for determining the right route for Connecticut is to study the approaches of other states that have established and pending CHW certification systems. Katharine London, Margaret Carey, and Kate Russell of UMass Medical School's Center for Health Law and Economics researched the approaches of 15 other states, and compiled a table that reveals commonalities and wide variability across states.
