Rhode Island Medicaid chief Deidre Gifford to step down

September 27, 2015

Rhode Island Medicaid Director Deidre Gifford is leaving the job to pursue opportunities in Washington, D.C., where her husband works, an Executive Office of Health and Human Services spokesman confirmed. Gifford plans to stay in the job until late October to ensure a smooth transition, he said. Gifford's departure also comes as the new Raimondo administration is working to implement a high-profile set of Medicaid policy changes.
