Karen Williams directs operations and program development for an array of long-term services and support clinical activities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She works with state health and human services agencies that serve complex populations, overseeing a myriad of services including clinical eligibility, Medicaid prior authorization, complex care coordination, and provider network development and administration.

Since joining UMass Medical School in 1999, Ms. Williams has developed solutions to complex operational and policy challenges for public clients. These solutions include overseeing the design and development of functional and clinical processes to assess home- and community-based waiver services for those transitioning from institutions to the community, designing a statewide comprehensive approach to care transitions from institutions to the community under the Money Follows the Person Demonstration, and building person-centered care planning processes.

Ms. Williams holds a master’s degree in social work from Boston University and a bachelor’s in recreation and parks management from California State University.
