N.Y. Department of Health extends WellCare's Medicaid contract through 2019

The New York State Department of Health renewed WellCare's contract to continue serving the state's Medicaid Managed Care program in Albany, Bronx, Dutchess, Erie, Kings, New York, Orange, Queens, Rensselaer, Rockland and Ulster counties. The contract, which runs through February 2019 and doesn't require annual renewals, will see WellCare of New York coordinate medical, behavioral and dental healthcare for eligible Medicaid recipients in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs. As of March 31, 2015, the company serves approximately 109,000 Medicaid members, 46,000 Medicare Advantage members, 57,000 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members and 7,000 Managed Long Term Care members in New York.
