Anthem BCBS of Kentucky extends Medicaid services contract, expands to Louisville, 15 additional counties

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services awarded Anthem BCBS of Kentucky a contract to continue serving members who participate in the state's Medicaid managed care program. The contract expands Anthem's services to eligible Medicaid beneficiaries who live in Region 3, which consists of Louisville and 15 surrounding counties. Anthem is one of five incumbents to be awarded a new contract and the only health plan that will expand its service area as a result of its award. Under the contract, Anthem will coordinate medical, behavioral, dental and vision health benefits for members who in the state's Medicaid programs, including the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), State Children's Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP) and Aged, Blind and Disabled (ABD) programs. Anthem also serves adults who are eligible to receive Medicaid Expansion benefits.
